Artist Statement: Chel Delaney is a Photographer and multidisciplinary artist.

"No Compromises" is an exchange and collaboration between photographer Chel Delaney and model-muse Maren Murray. These photographs examine the feminine gaze through the lens of the traditional studio portrait – one that questions the assumption that most Texan women not only know how to handle a weapon but that, at any age, reveals her form in all of its sexuality and joie de vivre. Inspired by their enthusiasm for costumes, vestments, and props, Chel and Maren playfully draw inspiration from Dadaesque performances to Surrealism to B-movie stereotypes and the complications and implications arising from the mundane.
