About the Exhibit
The San Antonio Ethnic Art Society’s and The Beacon at Midtown Gallery present, each of us if proof, an official Fotoseptiembre exhibition. each of us if proof showcases the photographic works of black artists whose imagery bears witness to the complex history and beauty within the African Diaspora.

Focusing on themes of identity, community, and American history, the exhibition offers an intimate and expansive view of Black American history, dating back to the 17th century. Through diverse photographic processes, these works serve as a photographic archive, honoring the past, present and envisioning the future. each of us is proof invites viewers to reflect on the layered narratives of black identity and history and the enduring strength of shared memory.

About SAEAS
The San Antonio Ethnic Art Society (SAEAS pronounced ‘sees’ is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization of multidisciplinary and multicultural artists and arts supporters. With over 55 members, SAEAS advances African-American, Black and African Diaspora Arts and Artists in the San Antonio area and their authentic cultural experiences. SAEAS hosts joint exhibitions, underwrites one-on-one arts training for San Antonio area youth of ages 10-17, partners with other organizations in creative engagement for the community, members professional development, and supports a biennial artist grant for African American women in visual arts, the SAEAS Abaraka Award.

About the Curator
Theresa Newsome is an interdisciplinary photographer whose work explores themes of identity, gender, and familial history. Her work has travelled internationally and has been featured in both public and private collections and exhibitions throughout the country. She currently works as an artist and educator in San Antonio, TX.
